Ben Henderson/Coach Hendo-Most of you know me, but just in case you do not; I am 26 years old and I moved to Oregon from the Boston area about 2 years ago. I played lacrosse very competitively back east at King Philip Regional High School where I am the all time leading scorer. For both my junior and senior seasons, I led the state of Massachusetts in assists, was ranked 3rd in the state in total points and was an Eastern Mass all-star. I moved to Portland because I loved the city and wanted to move to the west coast, and started coaching at Aloha High School just a month after moving here. This is my 3rd season coaching and I am now the head varsity coach. I will oversee the entire program with the help of the following assistant coaches.
Chuck Raymond-Hello, my name is Chuck Raymond. This will be my first year coaching lacrosse and I’m excited to get onto the field and work with the young lacrosse players from Aloha. The first time I heard about the game of lacrosse was from the movie “American Pie.” This was during my senior year of high school, so I find it awesome that the sport is now being taught at such a young age here in Oregon.
I played lacrosse for three seasons at Linfield College, and was a captain during my senior year. I was a defenseman, and every season we made it to the championship game for our league, but we always came up a little short. I transitioned to lacrosse from playing the offensive line in football. I try to bring the footwork techniques and body positioning to the game of lacrosse that I learned from football.
Currently, I’m a substitute teacher here in the Beaverton School District. Part of being a teacher to me is teaching more than just academics, but also coaching. My goal is to land a teaching job in the 2012-2013 school year in the area and remain a coach at Aloha. Also, during the summers I am a commercial fisherman in Bristol Bay, Alaska. I work as a deckhand on a 32-foot drift gill net boat, with two other guys. In the summer of 2011 we caught over 125,000 pounds of sockeye salmon in 5 weeks.
My fiancé and I live in Portland, and we are getting married in June. We both have passion for the outdoors; whether it is fly fishing, backpacking, skiing, rafting, biking, etc. My fiancé is currently a student teacher at Aloha high school as a health teacher, and helps coach the girls’ basketball team.
I'm looking forward to a great year!
Jessie Ainslie-I have been involved with lacrosse since my days of youth in the fifth grade. I played for Glencoe High School and then went on to play for the University of Montana in college. Currently I am a student pursuing a degree in Fitness Technology, while also owning a vitamin and supplement business called AdvoCare. I am a very easy going kind of guy, and on the weekends you can find me up on Mt. Hood snowboarding as much as possible or watching college football. I look forward to a great season of winning, losing and hopefully learning a thing or two with all of you.
Jimmy Hazen-I was part of the formation of the Hillsboro High School lacrosse team and played for the team for 4 years (1 year JV, 3 Varsity). I earned honorable mention all league as a midfielder. I also helped start the team at Portland Community College and was a player/coach for one year. I was the starting goalie at Biola University in La Mirada, California. I've also played for Lax NW for 6 years as a goalie. Recently, I coached offense for one season at Pacific University and helped coach at the Liberty High School stick skills camp for a summer.
I am 20 years old and live in Aloha. I have one brother (Michael) and one younger sister (Krista). I look forward to a great season!
Kyle Sheleny-I am a familiar face to Aloha Lacrosse as I graduated last year and played and started lacrosse for all 4 seasons. I received honorable mention for defense my senior year, rookie of the year for the team my freshman year and defensive MVP for our team my senior year. I am currently working and attending PCC. I look forward to helping continue to build the Aloha lacrosse program and develop defensive and clearing abilities. In my spare time you can find me at Mt. Hood or in eastern Oregon playing on quads
